Congratulations, it's a blog! We're starting our blog to coincide with our new etsy shop. It's called Lippy. We started out making lip balms and are quickly progressing to other items. So far we've branched out into solid perfumes, and we're working on soy candles too. But our main passion remains lip balms. Let us explain.
We are twin sisters originally from Long Island, NY who moved to the North Shore of Massachusetts for the fresh ocean air and the fried seafood. Although we're fraternal twins, we're identical in many ways, including sharing an addiction to lip balm. It all started in 6th grade with Lip Smackers (remember when they came in HUGE tubes?). From there our addiction progressed to Lip Lickers - the original lip balms in slider tins. Sadly, they went the way of disco, pet rocks, and mood rings, but they helped fuel what remains to this day an unbreakable addiction. We can't go anywhere without lip balm. One of us, and we're not saying which one, even carries a tube (or two) of lip balm in the pocket of every coat she owns. We make all of our lip balms from scratch rather than pre-made bases because we wanted quality lip balms for ourselves that condition and moisturize lips. And we've decided to share them with YOU!
Lippy is a joint venture. Lyn is the mixologist, and Lee is the graphics go-to-gal. Our lip balms are inspired by childhood favorites, as well as treats we enjoy today. When you purchase a Lippy product, you're getting a fun yet beneficial treat for your lips, and you're supporting a woman-owned business. You're also putting Lee through Grad school, one tube at at time (and she thanks you)!
We make our lip balms by hand from scratch, not from pre-made melt-and-pour lip balm bases. And we use only natural ingredients in our base, including beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter, and avocado oil. All of these are terrific moisturizers for your lips. But our lip balms don't just moisturize, they taste great, too. Many commercial lip balms use so called "flavor/fragrance" oils. In other words, these oils aren't really flavored. When you use a commercial lip balm, the fragrance oils trick your mind into thinking you taste the flavor when in fact, you don't. But we use food-grade flavor oils that give real flavor to our lip balms.
